Lift Sylvania
Linking Industry to Future Talent
Our Mission
To connect future talent with industry and community through career explorations, volunteerism, and real-world experiences: empowering students to build meaningful careers, give back to their community, and lead lives of purpose and fulfillment.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
LIFT Sylvania – Linking Industry to Future Talent – is a collaborative workforce initiative developed by Rotary International – Sylvania Chapter, the Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce, and Sylvania Schools. This innovative program connects students in Sylvania Schools’ Career Tech programs directly with local businesses, creating a strong pipeline between education and industry.
LIFT Sylvania aims to provide students with meaningful real-world experiences, such as job shadowing, internships, volunteering, and employment opportunities, while helping businesses invest in and shape their future workforce. By aligning educational pathways with regional employment needs, the program empowers students to explore career options and develop essential workplace skills.
Launching in fall 2025, LIFT Sylvania will be jointly managed by educators and business leaders, ensuring that student success and workforce development go hand in hand.
PROGRAMS WE SUPPORT
Lemonade Day is a national program that encourages students to develop entrepreneurial and life skills through the experience of running their own lemonade stand. The program teaches critical lessons in goal setting, budgeting, product development, and problem-solving, helping children realize their potential as future business leaders.
The Amazing Shake is a competition for all 7th graders at McCord Junior High that tests them on their essential skills that employers will look for in their future workforce. Students are learning how to communicate in a work setting, give accurate directions, shake hands, think on their feet, and engage others in ways that employers are seeking in the next generation.
